Eric Kaleja has over 15 years in depth-experience in emerging/frontier market investment with a focus on Africa. Based at DEG’s headquarter in Cologne, Germany, Eric is responsible for originating, structuring and executing long-term funding solutions for energy-related projects (mainly IPPs) through debt and mezzanine. Before that, Eric headed DEG’s Regional Office in Nairobi, where he successfully built up a portfolio of more than USD 350 million in over 35 companies with a focus on infrastructure projects and financial institutions.
Throughout the last years, Eric has been managing successfully senior level client relationships and deal flow generation with a strong track-record in negotiation and structuring of investments as well as portfolio management and macro-economic/industry-specific analysis. Eric served on boards of several banks and companies in East Africa, where he lived for more than 10 years. He holds a Master degree in economics and business administration from the University of Witten/Herdecke, Germany.
