Powering a climate neutral Europe by 2050: accelerators and missing links

Area 1

The European Commission will issue a ‘climate law’ to be announced in the spring of 2020. This law is likely to call for new European ambition on reaching carbon neutrality by 2050 which could mark/symbolise the beginning of a new legislative cycle on energy and climate policies.

What are the most promising technology solutions available to meet this challenge? How can we ensure a fair transition amongst EU member-states and across various sectors? What are the regulatory silver bullets which could help achieve the carbon neutrality goal? This high-level introductory session will address these questions following the input presentation of Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans.
